TASHPINAR

Carpet, center Anatolia, '30s-'40s.

128 x 179 cm

The village of Tashpinar is located on the secondaryroad to Nigde, there are produced mainly carpets of format Ceyrek and Sajjade, processed in the houses. The oldest specimens are distinguished from the most recent ones by the high quality of the wool and the fine knotting, done in a very accurate way. Typical are the carpets with elongated, almost oval medallions, whose interior designs stand out clearly. Among the dominant colors are the shades of red and blue. Bibliography of reference: K. Zipper, C. Fritzche, U. Jourdan, tappeti orienali turco-turcomanni, Ed. Sonzogno.
