Male bust to ancient in white statuary marble.

Il busto, ispirato alla ritrattistica celebrativa romana di tipo eroico, è cinto da un drappo tunica fermato da una cinghia sottile sulla spalla, il volto e lo sguardo leggermente rivolti verso l'alto. La cifra stilistica dell'elaborato panneggio, reso nella parte inferiore con linee parallele evocanti l'antico, accomuna diversi scultori attivi in Veneto del tardo Seicento e del primo Settecento. La resa dell'abbondante capigliatura, che rimanda alle acconciature d'epoca fine regno Luigi XIV-Reggenza, lo collocano tra la fine del XVII ed il primo decennio del XVIII secolo. Il gusto barocco coniugato con un incipiente classicismo, che segnò di fatto la fortuna degli scultori veneti anche a livello internazionale, grazie alle commissioni per la corte inglese e russa durante il 1700, è perfettamente reso nell'opera. In particolare per quanto riguarda il trattamento della capigliatura e dei panneggi, trova affinitià con la produzione destinata alla committenza privata degli scultori veneti vicini all'ambito di Juste (Gusto) Le Court (Ypres 1627-Venezia 1679) nella cui bottega si formarono e lavorarono artisti quali Orazio Marinali e Heinrich Meyring, italianizzato in Enrico Merengo.
