Romano Mussolini Biography
Romano Mussolini, son of Benito Mussolini, was born in Forlì in 1927. Since childhood, he has shown a great passion for jazz music, having started listening to 78 rpm records at the age of four. In 1943 he began studying the piano, after learning to play the accordion as a child. During the war, he listened with interest to the jazz music broadcast by Radio Tevere, an occult propaganda station.
After the end of the war, Romano and his family were arrested by the Allies and locked up in a concentration camp. In 1947, having obtained his freedom, he moved to Ischia, where he began performing as a pianist in clubs on the island. In the meantime he also resumed his studies, obtaining an accountant diploma and attending the faculty of economic and commercial sciences for a short period.
In the 1950s, Romano began to perform more and more often as a jazz pianist, participating in festivals and recording his first album under his own name in 1956. Over the years, he collaborated with many internationally renowned musicians and recorded numerous albums .
In the 1960s, Romano also began working as a film producer, without success. Since the end of the 1970s, he has dedicated himself mainly to painting, exhibiting in numerous Italian and international cities. In the last years of his life, he began to talk about his father and fascism again, publishing a book entitled "Il Duce, mia padre" in 2004.
Romano Mussolini died in Rome in 2006.
