About us
The Casa D’aste Capitolium was founded in 1988 by Rudiano Rusconi in the prestigious Palazzo Cigola Fenaroli Valotti in Brescia.
In 2008, after twenty years and forty auctions selling exclusively ancient art, the company underwent a structural overhaul and changed its name to CapitoliumArt.
The auction house opened a Modern and Contemporary Art section, directed by Gherardo Rusconi, while Ancient and 19th Century Art continued to be managed by Giorgio Rusconi. Over the years, new departments have been added: Design in 2011; Islamic and Oriental Art in 2016; Jewellery, again in 2016; Murano Glass in 2018; and Africa and Oceania and Luxury & Collectibles in 2020.
Since its foundation, Capitoliumart has been based in the ancient Palazzo Cigola Fenaroli Valotti in Brescia. The warehouses are located a few miles away, in the municipality of Ospitaletto. To meet the needs of transferors and buyers, we opened two other branches in Turin and Rome.
