Mario Abis (Chioggia, 1924 - Venice, 2004) was an Italian artist and engraver. Abis trained at the School of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Since 1947 he has participated in the most important Italian and international artistic events, presenting around 600 personal and collective exhibitions and obtaining numerous prizes and recognitions for his work. In 1992 he received the Gold Medal for history, culture and art awarded to him by the President of the Republic Scalfaro. Not only an artist, but also a professor of Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he collaborated with newspapers and art magazines as an expert and critic. He held positions at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation and was a member of the Ateneo Veneto, a member of the Board of Directors of the Circolo Artistico Veneziano and other artistic and cultural associations. His works are present in important public and private collections.
