JACQUES ADNET (Châtillon-Coligny, 1900 – 1984) He was a French designer and architect, mainly inspired by pre-classical styles and traditional furniture. Until the age of 28, Jacques lived and worked with his twin brother Jean at the Studio The Maitrise. From 1928 to 1960 he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais and from 1947 to 1949 he presided over the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs. While in the 1950s he dedicated himself to the creation of furniture, combining the functional aspect with geometric simplicity. Each piece, including lamps, mirrors, chairs, tables, was designed with the clean lines and simple shapes of an unprecedented Art Deco style, and subsequently rendered in glass, metal, leather or wood.
