Guido Argentini Biography
Guido Argentini was born in Florence in 1966. During his university years, he decided to abandon his medical studies to follow his passion for photography which he transformed into a profession. In 1990 he moved to Los Angeles, where he created his most important projects based on fashion and female beauty. His photographs have been exhibited in galleries around the world and published in famous magazines such as Vogue, Playboy and Marie Claire. Over the years, his interest in the female universe has deepened, exploring the most subtle nuances of female beauty, from body shapes to intimacy. Argentini has investigated the essence of femininity, creating images that range from the representation of women as divinities, as in his black and white where the female forms blend in with the landscapes with soft contours, to his stronger shots, taken in bedrooms luxurious hotels or low-cost motels, which explore eroticism and beauty, where the woman is the master of herself and her sensuality. His first book, SILVEREYE, published in 2003, features a series of studio nudes and landscapes in which the artist expresses his passion for sculpture and dance. In 2005, with PRIVATE ROOMS, Argentini offers a very personal journey of eroticism and beauty. REFLECTIONS, published in 2007, presents a vast collection of photographs of women observing themselves in the mirror, an unconscious investigation into the essence of the woman who falls in love and loses herself in the reflected image. With SHADES OF A WOMAN, from 2010, Argentini explores the different levels and nuances of femininity, while his most recent series, ARGENTUM, published in 2013, features athletic bodies covered in metallic paint that evoke the art of sculptors such as Brancusi and vivid energy of Degas' dance. These photographs pay homage to divinities of different cultures through performances in geometric settings, attributing to women the role of divinities that were reserved only for men in past eras.
