Silvio Balestra was born on 3 December 1969 in Trieste where he currently lives and works. He uses photography and computer graphics as means of expression. In recent years he has started a path of research in abstract and conceptual photography, mythologizing the appearance of light in a black and white world where every "really visible" form disappears. Present with a work in the public contemporary art collection of the "G. Sciortino" Art Museum of Monreale. In February 2011 he won the gallery owners' prize at the Parma Fair "Artistinmostra 2011" and was among the eight finalists for the Critics' Prize. In July 2011 he was selected with photography for the 2011 Arte Prize of the Arte Mondadori magazine. He exhibited at the De Nittis Foundation in Barletta. On the occasion of the 54th International Art Biennale of Venice curated by Professor Vittorio Sgarbi, he was invited to Turin Esposizioni for the Italian Pavilion. In May 2012 he exhibited as "Proposta MIA" at the Milan Image Art Fair (Mia Fair 2012). In March 2013, the Bramante Cloister Museum in Rome hosts the personal exhibition of the Trieste artist, curated by Giovanni Faccenda, with the display of 80 photographic works that trace his career. Numerous critics and art journalists have written about him. His works have appeared in important national and international art magazines.
