Agostino Bonalumi Biography

Agostino Bonalumi (Vimercate, Milan, 1935). After completing his studies, he entered the Milanese artistic environment, frequenting the studio of E. Baj, where he met Fontana, Manzoni and Castellani, with whom he collaborated on the founding of the magazine "Azimuth" and with who exhibited his first monochrome works. The magazine proposed to implement a clean slate of previous artistic experiences, to aspire to a new beginning in society. This is the reason that leads these artists to choose monochrome and the play of light and shadow. Bonalumi's work is considered imaginative and open in the search for ever new solutions. He exhibited in 1966 at the Sao Paulo Biennial in Brazil, in 1968 at the Paris Biennale and in 1970 at the Venice Biennale.
