Arturo Bonanomi Biography
Born on 13 January 1920 in Calolziocorte, died in Lecco on 18 December 2010, A.Bonanomi worked in Lecco, establishing himself as an artist in the pictorial field after having practiced the art of restoration and decoration. This activity originated from his association with the painter Frigerio in in the 1930s, she perfected herself with Sora in the 1950s and Vitali in the 1960s. However, it was Donato Frisia who encouraged the young self-taught man to pursue that path which would lead him to work as a fresco painter for Guido Frisia in the 1960s: thus successfully began the restoration of the frescoes for Count Albertoni in Montevecchia, for Countess Arese Lucini in Osnago and for the Marquis Sommi Picenardi in Olgiate. Vitali's encouraging judgment later had an impact on Bonanomi, favoring and encouraging his search for his own originality. In the 70s and 80s, mention should be made of his success in Liguria where, in the context of competitions on "painting themes", he was awarded prestigious prizes; it is not possible to mention the dozens of personal exhibitions and awards that saw him establish himself, as well as in Lecco, in the most disparate cities in Italy such as Milan, Brescia, Bergamo, Verona Ventimiglia, Bordighera, Turin, Pescara, Cagliari, Palermo and in others abroad such as Lyon and London. Rural and alpine landscapes, fruits and flowers, everything is rendered with the sure acquisition of pictorial techniques, devices and colors that contribute to a happy compositional synthesis. His paintings bring us back to a period where the landscape still retained a nineteenth-century flavour, where rustic houses and farmhouses, set in a rural world, remind us of our childhood. The art of A. Bonanomi is to convey in his paintings a penetrating vision of truth with an acute sensitivity that he expresses with the brush. We find this vision in every one of his paintings, glimpses of the landscape or hidden corners that no longer exist because they have been canceled by progress or rather by the transformation of our valleys and our villages as a result of intense urban expansion. Bonanomi also revealed himself as a poet through a few but significant compositions written in the 40s, 80s and 90s. Reality, through the word, reveals itself to be more complex and becomes a space suggested by the imagination and the desire to fix moods, going beyond the simple figurative representation: this is the new universe in which the word, by evoking, makes up for the pure description and becomes a different possibility of purely internal reading.
