Franco Borga Biography
Franco Borga was born in Turin in 1937, attended the school of Arts and Crafts; When he was very young he worked for an antiques dealer, learning the profession of restorer, which he then left to dedicate himself to painting. Self-taught, he exhibited for the first time in Turin in 1965. Since 1971 he has worked as a painter between Turin and Paris; in 1975 he obtained the 1st prize ex aequo "La Figura dell'Enigma", XVII edition of the City of Vasto. From 1976 to 1979 he successfully designed and created a series of jewels; in 1978-79 he created a 60 m2 stained glass window entitled "Grand Vitrail" for the Church of St. Martin de Rosiers, Municipality of Albon in Drome (France). Franco Borga also held 40 solo exhibitions, including in 1972 at the Galleria Au Cheval de Verre, Brussels, with a presentation by Aldo Passoni. In 1973 Galleria Porta Romana, Milan, with presentation by Ignazio Mormino. In 1975 Marie-France Bourely Gallery, Paris, presentation by Luigi Carluccio. In 1976 Galleria Verrocchio, Pescara, presentation by Albino Galvano. In 1983 Davico Gallery, Turin, presentation of Janus. In 1994 Galleria Davico, Turin, presentation by Angelo Dragone. In 1999, organized by the Piedmont Region, anthology of Artistic and Cultural Piedmont, presentation by Angelo Mistrangelo. Among the main collective exhibitions, from 1965 to 1986, Promotrice Belle Arti of Turin. In 1970 Art Contemporain Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. From 1971 to 1983 Gissi Gallery Turin. 1975 and 1976 Grands et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui, Grand Palais, Paris. 1982 Muestra Internacional de Grafica - Arteder, Bilbao. 1985 Seize painters and six Italian sculptors in Paris, Istitut Culturel Italien Paris. His works can be found in private and public collections in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Poland, England, the United States, Japan and Yemen.
