Born in Viareggio on 17 January 1899, he lives there. He is almost self-taught, having only attended the Lucca art school for a short time. Lorenzo Viani was his spiritual teacher. Landscape designer and figure enthusiast, he prefers the sincere expression of truth combined with sentiment and good taste. His compositions are painted with new and sometimes daring schemes, yet elaborated in tradition. His main works: "Il Cantiere" (Ministry of Popular Culture); "The Viareggio Canal" (Gallery of Modern Art in Milan); "Farmhouse" (Ministry of the Interior); "Campagna Versiliese" (Gallery of Modern Art in Rome); "Peasants listening to the speech of the Duce" (The Cremona Prize, Federation of Fasci dl Combattimento, Florence); "The grain of the Lucca reclamation" (Viareggio Casa Littoria); "Women in the air raid shelter" (XXIII Venice Biennale). At the XXVI XXIV Venice Biennale (1948) he exhibited: "The country"; at the Roman Quadrennial of the same year: "Ragazze di casa"; at the XXV Venice Biennale: "Il Cantiere".
