Nivio Covelli (1942 - 2020) of Milanese origin, arrived in Albissola Marina very young, in 1961. Covelli joined the great artists who frequented the Bar Testa at the time, an authentic meeting place for the masters of that time. Among the various workshops that the author frequented, there was also Ceramiche Mazzotti 1903. Nivio was a multifaceted artist. In fact, it was part of the great cultural movement that reached its peak in the 1960s, launching Albissola Marina as the art capital of that time. He collaborated with the group of artist-ceramists until the seventies. Covelli also works side by side with Sandro Soravia, Bartolomeo Tortarolo and Adriano Bocca with whom he consolidated a strong friendship that went beyond work. Covelli was also a furniture designer, he created jewels and trinkets, ceramics, paintings, even going so far as to work on glass. In 1982, in the historic center of Celle Ligure, Marcello Mannuzza opened his workshop, and a consolidated relationship was immediately born between the ceramist from Celle Ligure and Covelli himself. The flourishing activity carried out by the author originally from Milan saw the artist's spectrum of action broaden and he also donated some pieces to the Municipality.
