Nazzareno Cugurra (Verona, 15 January 1924) is an Italian painter and artist. Clarist painter, friend of Guttuso, born in Verona in 1924 and supported his studies by giving private painting lessons in Naples. Among his students was Romano Mussolini who, immediately after the war, was confined for political reasons to the island of Ischia. In 1949, at the age of 25, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. In 1951-52 he was among the 861 participants in the VI edition of the National Art Quadrennial of Rome, held at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in via Nazionale; he then took part in the two subsequent editions (1955-56 and 1959-60). In 1956 he participated in the XXVIII Venice Biennale. Attracted by the Roman environment rich in artistic and cultural stimuli, he decided to move there. In 1954 he won the 1st edition of the "città di Pizzo" painting prize, while in 1956 he had the opportunity to exhibit at the "Galleria La Loggia" in Brescia in a collective exhibition with Mino Maccari and Antonio Vangelli.
