Carlo De Carli Biography

De Carli Carlo (Milan 1910 - 1999) He graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1934 and later worked at Gio Ponti's studio, subsequently opening a studio with Renato Angeli. In 1940 he began his collaboration with the Triennale, which led him to assume the responsibilities of a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. His commitment in the furniture production sector is aimed at creating relationships between craftsmanship, universities and the Triennale. In 1948 he began his university career as an assistant on Ponti's course at the Polytechnic. In 1954 he won the Compasso d'Oro. In 1961 he became full professor and from 1965 to 1968 dean of the Faculty of Architecture. Among his most significant works we remember: the two houses in via dei Giardini, the San Erasmo Theatre, the church of Sant'Ildefonso (1955), the church of San Gerolamo Emiliani (1958-65), the collaboration in the design of the INA district -Casa Feltre (1957-60).
