Luigi Falai Biography
Florentine, born in 1941, he approached painting at a very young age in the studio of the artist Adolfo Tagliaferri. After attending the "Free School of the Nude" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, in 1967 he worked alongside maestro Pietro Annigoni, whose work he assiduously followed in the studio. Later, he learned the techniques of tempera grassa, fresco and fresco tearing thanks to the teachings of Romano Stefanelli. He has a large "carnet" of exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, United States, Australia, Colombia) and has been a fresco teacher since 1990. It is certainly the sacred that represents his favorite and most recurring theme, without forgetting the landscapes, still lifes and the highly original masks that he also signs. Among his most important creations, the Via Crucis painted in the church of Santa Maria in Cervaro (Frosinone), the "Sacraments" in the church of Sant'Anna in Pietrelcina (Benevento) and the two large frescoes taken from the New Testament "The Kiss of Judas" and "The delivery of the keys to Peter" in the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo in Ponte Buggianese (Pistoia). Pietro Annigoni, Giuseppe Catania, Paolo Levi, Tommaso Paloscia, Domenico Viggiano have written about him and his work, among others.
