Alfonso Leoni was born in Faenza in 1941 and died here after thirty-nine years following leukemia. His life is closely linked to the city in which he lived starting from his studies at the Ballardini Art Institute, where in 1961 he became a teacher of Plastic Arts. Fundamental was the relationship with Angelo Biancini - known first as a teacher and of whom he became a collaborator - who encouraged and supported him in undertaking his artistic career. The relationship with Faenza was a love and hate relationship: he received many stimuli from this city, but at the same time he felt limited in his possibilities, so much so that he sought other avenues such as, ultimately, collaboration with the Villeroy industry. & Boch.
