Giovanni Meschini was the most important author in the field of hand-painted postcards. He developed his activity between 1916 and 1938. He was born in Rome in 1888, studied art and became a professor of drawing and calligraphy. He began his activity as an illustrator, that is, he made color drawings, usually on cardboard, which were photographed and then shrunk. These illustrations were reproduced in print to make postcards.
