Sculptor and ceramist Giancarlo Montuschi was born in Faenza in 1952. At the age of twenty he held his first solo exhibition at the Sire Gallery in Faenza. In the mid-1970s he participated in the Nose Collective and various self-managed art manifestos. In 1980 the artist inaugurated a phase focused on alchemy understood as a philosophical process and transformation of matter. In 1986 the artist participated in the Faenza and Gualdo Tadino prizes and exhibited some works created with the Raku technique in a collective exhibition in Sweden, at the De 20 Gallery in Vaxio. In 1987 he participated in the Bologna Art Fair, the II World Ceramic Triennial in Zagreb and the following year he won the first jury prize at the Vallarius ceramic exhibition. In 1988 he was present at the Faenza Ceramics Biennial, in the same year he presented some ceramic sculptures at the Pirra Gallery in Turin. In 1990, the Municipal Gallery of Faenza hosted, in a solo exhibition, the work carried out by the artist during the 1980s. In 1993 he was present at the Salone della Ceramica del Novecento in Faenza. In 1997 his works were exhibited at the "Gallerie CNG" in Paris and at the Spoleto Festival and the following year the city of Saint Emillion presented his works at the local Ceramics Museum.
