Alex Mozart was born in Trieste on 12 April 1926. The surname was Italianised during the fascist period, and for many years it was Marino Adolfo Alessandro Mozati. Only many years later by presidential decree was it made official as Alex Mozart. After the war, Alex finished his studies and first attended the Albertina Academy in Turin, then the Brera Academy in Milan. He is a pupil of the painter Gianfilippo Usellini and collaborates with the masters of "spatialism" especially with Roberto Crippa. Alex Mozart joins the Astrarte group, with Filippo De Gasperi, the founder, the sculptor Aimone Modonesi, Franco Ghisotti, Renzo Bergamo, and Raffaele Lattuada. In 1979 he was awarded the Ambrogino d'Argento thanks to his artistic research steeped in environmentalism. Since 1982 he has opened his water exhibitions in various swimming pools (Aprica in Sondrio, Stintino in Sardinia and Lanark in Scotland). In 1983 he took part in the Edinburgh International Festival. On this occasion, the Renault car manufacturer commissioned him to paint one of his works on the bonnet of the new car model for the advertising launch. Magirus Deutz also had two trucks and a concrete mixer painted. Alex Mozart died on 18 June 2008.
