Lia Peikov (Sofia, 1911 – Rome, 1988). In 1943 she moved to Italy where she became assistant to her older brother, the sculptor Assen Peikov. He starts his pictorial activity and creates works in which the central theme is the universe. Through the use of very intense colors, the artist represents a dimension never painted before. In 1980 he was awarded the “Cyril and Methodius Gold Medal”, the highest Bulgarian honour, for his artistic ability. In Rome a square was dedicated to him near Cinecittà.
