Fabrizio Pezzino Biography
Born in Palermo in 1965. After completing his studies at the Art Institute, he combined his activity as a painter with the study of drums, exploring the strong link between painting and music. The innate percussive nature has brought out the qualities of sensitivity and refinement, finding the natural territory to explore in the jazz field. He has performed with various ensembles at the Teatro Civico in Sassari, at the Teatro Selinus in Castelvetrano (TP), at the Teatro Politeama in Palermo and in other concert venues. He participated with the "Alma Jazz" group in events for UNICEF and in jazz clubs: Gattonero, Open Jazz, Mikalsa and Brass Group of Palermo. In 2005 he began to organize weekly jazz jam sessions open to all musicians in his painting atelier in Via Goethe, 28, creating a stable and reference meeting point in the city of Palermo. On August 1, 2008 he received the J&B Jazz and Blues Summerfest plaque at the Antica Stazione Ficuzza for his commitment to music. Painting and music in continuous symbiosis thus originate a strong sign, supported by an impetuous sense of circular time, characterized by vortices, spirals, serpentines. His works are present in public and private collections. He lives and works in Palermo.
