Luigi Regianini Biography
Luigi Regianini, teacher, painter, sculptor and graphic designer, was born on 22 June 1930 in Milan, the city where he still lives and works. He graduated from the Liceo Artistico di Brera and attended a painting course for two years at the Castello Sforzesco school in Milan. He graduated in Sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, under the guidance of the masters Francesco Messina first and then Giacomo Manzù. Surrealist painter, since the beginning, he has more than 250 art exhibitions to his credit, both personal and collective, in Italy and abroad, obtaining numerous awards. In addition to Italy, his works can be found in private and public collections in Switzerland, Canada, the USA, Mexico and Japan and his activity is mentioned in the most important contemporary art dictionaries and in many school books. He founded the surrealist movement "Stige" in Milan; he was the creator and founding advisor of the "pentacolo" cultural center in Milan. From 1957, for 30 years, he was part of the "Milanese Artistic Family", the oldest and most prestigious Ambrosian association and was, for numerous years, a member of the board of directors and, later, Vice President and head of the Artists Commission. In 1962 he was appointed by the Ministry of Education as examination commissioner for Northern Italy for decentralized qualification (Class XLIX). In 1982 he was awarded the Ambrogino for artistic merit by the Mayor of Milan and in 1989 he was awarded the silver medal by the Ministry of Education, as a meritorious of school, culture and art.
