(Mantua, 1897 - Mantua, 1956) Painter and engraver. Self-taught. After his apprenticeship with the Mantuan artists Arturo Cavicchini for the art of engraving and Alfonso Monfardini for painting, he began to exhibit in 1934, when he was admitted to the Interprovincial Trade Union Exhibition in Milan, also participating in the two subsequent editions. In 1936 he took part in the XX International Art Exhibition in Venice and, therefore, in various art fairs and trade union exhibitions in Mantua, as well as in the Roman Quadrennial. In 1961 an important retrospective of his was held at the Casa del Mantegna in Mantua. In 1966 the Galleria Mantua Alla Torre hosted a posthumous anthology, while in 1997 a second anthology was promoted by the Municipality of Ponti sul Mincio. His artistic activity takes place mainly in his hometown. His early years saw him become friends with the Mantuan artists Vaini and Zanfrognini, with whom he dedicated himself to the theme of landscape, and with Lomini and Guindani, from whom he derived a strong influence, close to expressionism. From the end of the 1930s we witnessed a compositional rarefaction and a chromatic modulation played on soft tones, in harmony with the manner of the clarists.
