Antonio Saliola (Bologna 1939) Due to the war he spent his childhood in the countryside, displaced with his family, growing up in the rural world. After primary school he returns to the city where he begins a school career torn between hostility towards scientific subjects and a predilection for art, literature and cinema. Painting is his vocation, supported by his parents who ask him just to finish your studies. After completing classical high school, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law, graduating in 1967. He was an official at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and at the same time opened the 'Tempo' Art Gallery which organized various figurative exhibitions until 1974, the year in which Saliola resigns from everything and finally dedicates himself only to painting. He spends long summers in Romagna, in the Rimini hinterland, in a house called 'Cagnotta'. Since 1972, presented by Luigi Carluccio, he has exhibited numerous personal paintings representing posing groups, mostly from family backgrounds, with animal faces that insinuate themselves among those of people. This fuels his love for books and cinema , passions that make him a painter-narrator who tells about himself in a variety of cycles. Antonio Saliola continues to live in his city and spend his summers in the Marecchia Valley, in a medieval town called Petrella Guidi.
