Mario Schifano is undoubtedly the most important Italian artist of the post-war period together with Lucio Fontana.

Despite having already recorded an award above 2,000,000 euros, his prices are still low compared to his Lombard colleague who is 35 years older. Schifano's use of silkscreens, stencils and spray paint gives his work a graphic and industrial appearance in line with the Zeitgeist of the time and the culture that would later be defined as pop.

In the 1980s he applied his works to art subjects, using photographs of important figures such as De Chirico, Matisse, Leonardo da Vinci.
