Pietro Spica Biography
He was born in Dolo (Venice) in 1953. A degree in Contemporary History, a maternal uncle, Gianni Dova, among the founders of the Italian Spatialist Movement, in whose studio Pietro spent hours watching him paint as a child. He has traveled to Afghanistan, India, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and Morocco, and spent long periods in the USA and the Balearic Islands. From each trip he brought back different impressions and stimuli that have profoundly affected his expressive technique, giving his art a peculiar character, full of suggestions drawn from the encounter with figurative traditions of different cultures. He collaborated with the artist and pedagogue Bruno Munari, illustrated the Italian fairy tales of Italo Calvino and Mattia and Roberto Piumini's grandfather. His paintings, with bright colors and soft lines, are exhibited in various Italian and American galleries and are present in numerous collections in Europe and America. In recent years he has lived and worked in Milan, Liguria and the island of Menorca.
