Stilnovo Biography
Stilnovo is an Italian company specialized in the production of lighting fixtures. Founded in Milan in 1946 by designer Bruno Gatta, Stilnovo immediately attracted the attention of the Milanese artistic environment, as demonstrated by a review in Domus signed by Gio Ponti, the silver medal at the d'Oro of the Braccio lamp in 1955. Thanks to the collaboration with renowned designers such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Gae Aulenti, just to name a few, the company has produced lamps that have now become design icons. Innovative solutions, cutting-edge materials and cutting-edge technology have made Stilnovo a point of reference for designers and enthusiasts of timeless design. After closing its operations in 1993, Stilnovo was acquired in 2019 by the Linea Light group, specialized in cutting-edge solutions in LED technology. This marked the beginning of a new phase of success, which contributed to enriching the prestigious catalog with new collections with a contemporary taste. Among the most active designers we find Mirco Crosatto, head of the Research and Design department of the Linea Light Group, who designed the award-winning Reflexio, Diphy, Demì, Mr Magoo, Hinomaru lamps and the Derby sound-absorbing lamp for Stilnovo. The Venetian brothers Pio and Tito Toso, architects and designers, also contributed to relaunching the company with their projects, such as the Honey collection or the Sparkling floor lamp, the former inspired by the glassmaking tradition of Murano and the latter by Burano lace.
