Luigi Veronesi Biography

Milanese, central figure of Italian abstract art. In the city of Milan, he experienced the creative ferment of the 1930s, first entering the Galleria del Milione with photographic figurative works, a decisive center for the cultural, artistic and "promotional" sides of the most promising artists of those years. He then arrived at abstraction in the early 1930s, joining the "Collective Exhibition of Abstract Art" of 1935 in Turin at the laboratories of Felice Casorati and Enciro Paolucci. Already in 1934 he joined the Parisian group of Abstraction-Creation, taking an active interest in the German Bauhaus. Since the 1940s he has experimented with filmographic technique with the creation of 6 abstract films, of which today only a few non-projectable clips remain. The experimentation continues in the following years, the last abstract film is from 1980. A multifaceted artist, he was also interested in music and screenplays, his pictorial activity continued until his death in Milan in 1998.
