ROGER WOUTERS BORN ON 12 JANUARY 1937 IN BRUGGE - BELGIUM - 1953 Undertakes social studies with particular attention to the languages of poetry and painting. 1955 -1958 He studied art and attended the atelier of the master Jef Van Tuerenhout (Ostend), then continued his studies as a self-taught artist. In 1958 he had his first contact with the "Italian Sun": 1200 meters underground in the coal mine in Waterschei, where there are numerous Italian workers. Draws under the influence of Henry Moore "The Miner". 1959 He goes to study in Spain and is inspired by the works of El Greco. Travels to France and studies Matisse. He moved to Ostend where he painted "Maurice de Visser" paying homage to Permeche. 1962 In Brussels he is one of the founders of the "ONDERAARDS" group and receives numerous awards and recognitions. 1964 Receives nomination for the "Prix Jeune Peinture Belge" Award Receives awards for artistic activities in the Belgian State. First contacts with the Pagani Foundation - Legnano - Italy, he met and frequented the artists of the Gallery. First research in Italy on Masaccio. Stay in Switzerland. EXHIBITIONS: Brussels - Le Disque Rouge Gallery Brugge - Groenigehuis Museum Ostend - Personal exhibition "Chevre Folle" 1968 For the collection of the Belgian State, he painted a picture with the title "tyger-tygert" dedicated to William Blake. Invited to Italy he settles here. The Ostend Museum adds to its collection his work "Maurice de Visser" dedicated to Permeke. EXHIBITIONS: Legnano - Galleria Del Grattacielo. Milan - De Le Ore Gallery Ostend - L'Atelier Legnano Gallery - International modern art exhibition at the Pagani Museum. 1970 He is invited to the "X Premio del Disegno" Salone delle Ore in Milan. He is invited to the COMACINA island.
