Giampietro Zanotti (Paris, 3 October 1674 – Bologna, 28 September 1765) was an Italian painter, art historian and poet. He studied painting in Bologna with Lorenzo Pasinelli. In the first decade of the 18th century he was one of the founding members of the artists' academy in Bologna, known as the Accademia Clementina. He wrote many works, including poems. Among his writings is a guide for young painters: Warnings for a young person's approach to painting. He is also the author of a biography on his friend and painter Giovan Gioseffo Dal Sole. His brother Francesco Maria was a philosopher. His son Eustachio Zanotti was a well-known astronomer and mathematician (1709–1782). Among his students was Ercole Lelli, known for his anatomical studies in wax.
