ESTIMATED WEIGHTS
Weight of precious stones indicated in the catalogue is determined, if not expressly specified, through accurate measurements and mathematical formulas. TREATMENT OF GEMSTONES
Gemstones usually undergo tratments in order to improve theri appearance. For example heat treatments that enhance colour and transparency of rubies and sapphires and oils applied to emeralds are considered common treatments and are accepted by jewelry dealers. There are other methods such as the use of pigments, irradiance or coating ecc that according the type of gem will contribute to their permanent alteration. The improvement of the characteristics changes the market value, therefore the estimates of precious stones, where not otherwise specified by a certificate issued by a credited gemmological laboratory, are based on the hypothesis that precious stones may have been treated.
