Lodovico Acerbis Biography
Lodovico Acerbis was born in Albino, Italy, in 1939. After completing his studies in economics and business, he joined the family business specializing in the design and production of furniture. Over the years, his passion for design developed and in 1977 he met Giotto Stoppino, a renowned Italian designer. This meeting kicked off a 15-year collaboration, during which they worked together with the common goal of designing furniture that would aid in the preservation of objects. Thanks to their innovative vision, both have received numerous awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in Italy and the Silver Award from the Institute of Business Design in New York. Although they ended their collaboration, Acerbis continued its research on storage capacity in the furniture sector. Today, numerous pieces of furniture designed by him are part of the prestigious permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. With a passion that has roots since his youth, Acerbis has dedicated himself to creating furniture that is functional and at the same time aesthetically fascinating. Unlike many other designers, Acerbis has the distinction of being both a furniture creator and a publisher, producing his creations exclusively through his company. The collaboration with Giotto Stoppino resulted in splendid pieces, such as the Sheraton (1977) and Hilton (1979) sideboards, which helped define his unique style in the field of furniture design.
