Edoer Agostini Biography

Edoer Agostini was born in 1923 in San Martino di Lupari (PD). In 1943 he was called to war and subsequently taken prisoner and deported. He returned to Italy in 1947. His artistic training was mainly self-taught and was inspired by his work experiences in the textile sector. At the end of the 1960s the poetics for which Agostini is known took shape. He collaborates and exhibits with the artists of Gruppo N of Padua, Gruppo T of Milan, GRAV of Paris and Gruppo Zero of Dusseldorf, very active in recent years. In the early 1970s, Surfaces made their way: formal rigor of spaces, thin and elastic lines and smooth colors create virtual three-dimensionality between figure and background. At the end of the decade we have the rigorous monochrome of Perceptive Dynamics. At the beginning of the 1980s with the Strutture Rilievo Agostini investigated the play between solids and voids, light and shadow in forms suspended in the space of the painting structure. He was the promoter and organizer of 8 editions (from 1971 to 1985) of the Biennial of Contemporary Art of San Martino di Lupari which hosted the most important internationally renowned artists of programmed and optical-kinetic art, whose works went to constitute the permanent collection of the Civic Museum of Contemporary Art of San Martino di Lupari, dedicated to Umbro Apollonio, conceived and created by the artist. In 1986 he was invited to the XLII International Biennial of Venice entitled Art and Science in the Color section. He passed away suddenly in the same year.
