Filippo Alison Biography

Filippo Alison, born in Torre Annunziata, was one of the leading figures for Italian design not only as a researcher, but concretely drawing the attention of the design world to the most significant designers and objects of Modernism (Le Corbusier, Wright, Mackintosh , Asplund, Rietveld) which would be re-proposed to the public in Cassina's "I Maestri" collection in re-editions of great cultural as well as commercial interest. Interior architect for the University of Salerno, for which he designed the Aula Magna and the University Theatre, urban furniture designer for Ravello, he had taught Furnishings and Interior Architecture at the University of Naples "Federico II ”. The summary of his intellectual journey is the volume A journey through forms, which collects, in addition to his writings, the testimonies of those who appreciated and valued his work. In 2001 he was a member of the jury of the XIX Compasso d'Oro.
