Gianfranco Anastasio Biography
Gianfranco Anastasio was born in Messina in 1956. He graduated in architecture in 1985. His work combines feeling of matter and analysis of space, in a pictorial practice that is both cognitive and operational: "each work adds world to the world, expands it the borders, makes other aspects of reality visible”. Painting, therefore, which is an experiential idea of reality that matures in the concreteness of its making. His recurring poetic figure is the threshold understood as metamorphosis, confluence, crossing and "origin", place and time in which dialectical tensions become, by fixing themselves, perceptible in their coincidence and distinction. The following have written about him: Lucio Barbera, Massimo Bignardi, Lucio Cabutti, Luciano Caramel, Martina Corgnati, Manuela Crescentini, Enrico Crispolti, Caterina Di Giacomo, Patrizia Ferri, Luigi Paolo Fartigianato, Ada Patrizia Fiorillo, Giuseppe Frazzetto, Gerri Gambino, Marco Meneguzzo, Sandra Orienti, Teresa Pugliatti, Marisa Vescovo.
