Eric Andersen Biography
Eric Andersen (1940 - ) is a Danish artist associated with the Fluxus movement; he is considered one of the pioneers of intermediate art. Andersen viewed art as a constant exploration of human expression as the world is constantly evolving. In 1962, Andersen attended one of the first concerts organized by Fluxus, which was held during the Festum Fluxorum in the Nikolai Kirke in Copenhagen. He also contributed to the first Fluxus publication, "The Roll". From 1962 to 1966 he worked closely with Arthur Køpcke. In 1964, Andersen traveled to Central and Eastern Europe and introduced local artists and musicians to Fluxus. In the same year, Andersen assisted Joseph Beuys in a performance at the Galerie René Block, Berlin. Since the end of the '60s he has often frequented Eastern Europe in the company of Tomas Schmit, Arthur Köpcke, Emmett Williams, and is active in Mail Art. In his works (Opus) he has investigated the interaction between performer and audience and, among the most important, we remember: Hidden Paintings, Weeping Spaces, Kitchen Confessions, Meadows that turn towards the sun, and The sun and the artificial stars.
