Anzani Mobili Biography
The story began in 1970, when three cousins, Giovanni Anzani, Alberto and Aldo Spinelli, acquired the furniture factory - then called that - founded by the family in the Brianza region 30 years earlier, subsequently transforming it into Poliform. The product that actually introduced them to the world of design was a wardrobe designed by architect Paolo Piva. They decided to call it "I" because it represented a small self-contained universe. This wardrobe represented a real research laboratory for the company: until then, this type of furniture was sold with a simple rod for hanging clothes and a chest of drawers. Their wardrobe, however, contained all the necessary elements, from the shoe rack to the tie rack. They were the first to produce the walk-in wardrobe on an industrial scale thanks to what they had learned and experienced with "Io". They presented this product at the 1980 Salone del Mobile, in a simple but very beautiful stand, designed by the architect Achille Castiglioni, and achieved enormous success. In the past, the central element was the single object. For some years, and this is what distinguishes Poliform, the aim has been to present complete furnishings, a real lifestyle. Their style is precise and recognisable, strongly identifying with the culture of elegance and sobriety.
