Andrea Appiani Biography

Appiani Andrea (Milan, 1754 - Milan, 1817) He studied at the Brera Academy, where he trained as a fresco artist and painter. After having frescoed important villas and churches in Milan and Brianza, with the arrival of Napoleon, he became the official court painter, painting many portraits of the emperor and frescoing the royal palace. he was also among those who inaugurated the Brera Art Gallery.
