Rosario Arizza Biography
Rosario Arizza was born in Avola, in the province of Syracuse, in 1951 where he lives and works today. After graduating from the Art Institute of Syracuse, he immediately dedicated himself to abstract painting. From 1992 to 1993 he worked and exhibited in Germany and Paris. In 2001 he was invited to Gibellina where he created ten large works which are now preserved in the Museum of Contemporary Art. Arizza is the bearer of an intense philosophy of Mediterranean cultural identity, made of warm and intense colours, reminiscent of the sand of the sea and the colors of the earth, transferred through a generous use of matter as a stratification of signs and superposition of ideas. Over the years Arizza has continued to experiment and deepened his studies, remaining faithful to his nature, in which the main characteristic is the full awareness of matter as a founding element of his art. His works are part of numerous prestigious public and private collections, both in Italy and abroad. Eminent intellectuals and art critics have written about him, including Joan Abellò Juanpere, Lucio Barbera, Tanino Bonifacio, Juan Manuel Bonet, Tanino Bonifacio, Antonio Caldarella, Joe Camilleri, Gillo Dorfles, Francesco Gallo, Giovanni Iovane, Nino Muccio, Monica Munoz Basunana, Paola Nicita, Mario Perniola, Pierre Restany, Michele Romano.
