Alois Arnegger Biography

Alois Arnegger (1879-1963) Austrian painter best known for his ability to paint snow-capped mountains, Italian coastal landscapes and panoramic views.
In Vienna, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of the artists Robert Russ and August Eisenmenger, who introduced him to the pre-impressionist technique. In 1920, Arnegger traveled to Italy and was enchanted by the picturesque coastal views of the Mediterranean, which became a source of inspiration for many of his creations. Once he returned to Austria, he dedicated himself to painting magnificent Alpine scenes.
He died in Vienna on 11 August 1963, leaving behind an artistic legacy of great importance. His son, Gottfried Arnegger, followed in his father's footsteps and also became a famous painter. Alois Arnegger was influenced by the pre-impressionist and romantic movement, characterized by the representation of nature and outdoor painting. His works are admired for their dramatic lighting and technical mastery, which is still prized today by collectors around the world
