Artemide Biography
Artemide is a company specialized in the production of lighting accessories (lamps, chandeliers, light points), founded by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in 1959. The brand has been characterized since the beginning by a great attention to the design that has allowed it to win numerous international awards for its products over the years. Among the most prestigious names in Italian design, Artemide is also one of the world's leading companies in high-end residential and professional lighting. The Tizio and Tolomeo lamps are among the products that have contributed to making the company famous and have become lamps that have become design icons. Designed in 1986 by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, the Tolomeo arm lamp was created in different models, all characterized by an innovative suspension mechanism which represent an evolution of the traditional springs already used on arm lamps. In recent years Artemide has also created important architectural projects such as the Pirelli headquarters and the Shanghai Formula 1 racetrack.
