Tiziano Aspetti (Padua, 1559 – Pisa, 1606) was an Italian sculptor who was very active together with Girolamo Campagna in Venice in the last part of the 16th century.
He distinguished himself above all in the art of bronze working and became famous for his bronzes created in 1593 for the Basilica of Sant'Antonio in Padua.
Aspetti came from a family of prominent artists: his grandfather, Guido Minio known as Lizzaro, specialized in bronze casting, while his uncle, Tiziano Minio, was a plasterer and sculptor.
It is likely that Aspetti learned the first technical rudiments in the family laboratory, and perhaps worked as Girolamo Campagna's assistant.
Thanks to family contacts, in 1577 Aspetti was hired by Gian Francesco Grimani, patriarch of Aquileia. Grimani was a famous patron of the arts, and his palace boasted the largest and most prized collection of antiquities outside of Rome.
