Louis René Astre was born in 1924 and began his career as a photographer for Vogue. Over the years, he expanded his work and collaborated with several other magazines and advertising clients. In 1968 he founded Studio Astre, a place where he could work as a photographer. Since then, his studio has become the workplace of many great figures in the world of photography.
Over time, Astre began to rent its sets to some prestigious photographers, including Richard Avedon, who became one of its best-known clients. His activity continued until his death in 1988. After the photographer's death, his wife gradually decided to dedicate herself completely to the set rental business. The business experienced strong expansion and Studio Astre became the favorite set of American photographers, obtaining international recognition.
