Rainer Alfred Auer, known as «Fredi» (1937-2012), was a painter of concrete art. Born in 1937 in Wartau, he spent most of his life in Winterthur, where he grew up. He founded a gallery and was a member of the Winterthur artists' group. In 2007 he received the Carl-Heinrich-Ernst Cultural Foundation Prize. He passed away on March 15, 2012 in Winterthur.
