Giorgio Baitello Biography

Giorgio Baitelli (1908 - 1995) Born in Venice in 1908, he graduated from the Art Institute, a pupil of his uncle Guido Cadorin, perfecting his artistic studies in Turin with Felice Casorati. In 1933 he obtained the professorship at the School of Art of Castellamonte and in 1938 he was appointed Dean of the Royal Institute of Art for Ceramics of Castelli, thus approaching the world of ceramics. In the 1940s he participated in the Milan Art Triennials and took part in the first International Art and Ceramics Exhibition in Paris. In the last years of the Second World War he held the position of Director at the Royal School of Ceramic Art in Castelli. In 1953 he became director of the Art School of Avellino, in 1956 he assumed the position of Director of the Art Institute of Sesto Fiorentino and since 1973 he has been Director of the Art Institute of Chieti, where, together with his brother Marino, he opened a ceramic laboratory, called "Baitello Ceramiche". He died in Pescara in 1995.
