Alberto Barbieri (1958 - ) was born in Pavia in 1958. He initially turned his artistic interests to photography and theatre. He also worked for some years for cinema and television. He studied at the Civic School of Visual Arts in Pavia and created sets for operas. Dedicated to painting, he made his debut in a solo exhibition in 1986 in Milan. The journey continues continuously in art galleries and public institutions. Participation in collective and thematic exhibitions, held in private and institutional, national and international contexts, is also intense. In 1987 he obtained the First Prize at the "Young Contemporary Art" Biennial in Sartirana. In the same year he was appointed consultant of the Museo della Permanente in Milan. Participates in the XXX and XXXI National Art Biennial at the Palazzo della Permanente. In 2002 he was present at the Bardo Museum in Tunis and at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires. In 2003 he exhibited at exhibitions held in Wolfsburg (Germany) and Cordoba (Spain). He travels to Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Indochina, Indonesia and Africa. In 2003 he created a large mural work in Kenya at the invitation of the Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi for the "Tree is life" project. In 2004 he created another mural work for the "Carlo Besta" National Research Institute in Milan. He also dedicated himself to small sculpture combined with goldsmith art and to the creation of works in patinated ceramic and raku. He lives and works in Pavia.
