Pietro Bardellino (Naples, 1732 - Naples, 1806). Influenced by Francesco De Mura, his teacher and Corrado Giaquinto, his style, however, takes a different path, evolving towards brighter forms and more airy spaces. He is the author of frescoes and paintings mainly on sacred subjects. In 1773 he became director of the Neapolitan Academy of Drawing which became the spokesperson for decorativism in opposition to the nascent neoclassical current.
