Daniel Bec Biography
Daniel Bec (1940 - 2010) was a painter, draftsman, printmaker. Born in Cannes. He trained in Nice and specialized in Paris. In 1964 he moved to Albisola. In 1965 he was invited by Enrico Crispolti to the Alternative Current exhibition in L'Aquila. He then took part in the following exhibitions: Art and city, Genoa, Palazzo Reale, Teatro dei Falcone, 1980; Ferrara, Palazzo dei Diamanti, 1984; Genoa, La Maddalena Center, 1985 and 1986; Genoa, Galleria Il Punto, 1986, 1988, 1990; Savona, Cona Gallery, 1989, 1991; Milan, Galleria Ciovasso, 1992. Since the mid-1960s he has been in contact with critics interested in the tradition of realism and critics such as De Micheli, Seveso, Bruno and Micacchi support his art. During the 1920s his surrealist-inspired painting followed a figure full of references and quotations and with strong literary connotations. The masters of Mannerism and especially Pontormo are at the center of his thoughts. A favorite theme is the beauty of the male body, which is discussed as part of a reflection on the human condition that takes place in harmony and unconditional acceptance, independent of any judgement.
