Enrico Benaglia Biography
Painter, designer, engraver, lithographer, set designer, sculptor, Enrico Benaglia was born in 1938 in Rome. While still a teenager he frequented, for professional reasons, Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome and the studios of some protagonists of twentieth century art: Fazzini, Omiccioli, Gentilini and Montanarini. Around the end of the Sixties, encouraged by the esteem and friendship of painters and art critics such as Vittorio Guzzi, Domenico Purificazione and Giovanni Stradone, Benaglia exhibited, at the Galleria La Vetrata in Rome (1969), a series of paintings where the originality of his aesthetic and poetic research is established; It was Roberto Lombardi himself, owner of the art gallery, who was the first to perceive the cultural potential of the Roman painter. Outside the major conceptual "artistic poles" of the 1960s and early 1970s, thanks to the authenticity of his painting Benaglia came into contact with a cultural world of poets and actors, such as Luciano Luisi, Renato Civello, Claudio Rendina, Mario Lunetta , Walter Maestosi, Biagio Proietti, Nanni Fabbri, Riccardo Cucciolla, Gabriella Sobrino, Umberto Serafini, Laura Gianoli, Guido Ruggiero, who contribute to the development and further definition of his poetic world. Parallel to this is a first intense exhibition activity, from the Premio Villa San Giovanni, 1972, at the Japanese exhibition in Osaka, since 1973.
